I would like to state although this rating is at a 2 star it is not intended to be reflective upon Dr. Anthony Deangelis, Dr. Sara Ann Gilbert, NP. Anjalis Sharma, RN Michelle Schaider, Kathleen Vaugnh or the front desk receptionist. Writing this review I know it won't be taken seriously or lightly. There will be a lack of urgency, further lack of empathy and resolution, As I am a female, I have hormones which some will use as a excuse for how I feel toward this facility and use against me writing this. The office staff particularly the physicians other than those mentioned above showed a total lack of remorse or empathy. I received treatment- related stress. This office made me feel more like a number than an individual at most visits and follow up e-mails. I provided understanding to their busy schedules regarding requested call backs, however, was never met with the same respect. I had a final appointment with one of the physicians at this facility which was met with utter disregard and gaslighting comments. I had made a recommendation that for future patients please provide them with resources as a option which can be available to them during this process. Once you begin a fertility cycle you do not know how you will react to the many medications you will receive, and quick withdrawals from them all. You are left to try and figure it out yourself. I brought up reputable case studies researched, prioritized concerns to advocate for myself, which were laughed at approach with responses, "Thats not necessarily true". I Understand this is an elective benefit, nonetheless it is still a benefit, these are still peoples lives, and you are providing customer service to member, within customer service comes compassion, empathizing, listening. I do not speak for everyone, I am speaking for myself, the way this office conducts itself can result in loss of respect and particularly uncertainty of the clinics way of conducting business. It is important to provide support refresher training to staff especially staff which works with such members (delayed fertility). It is rather disappointing providers see this daily and somehow have lost all aspects providing adequate support or care.
The journey of infertility does have its trying tosses and turns. And by the time many of us seek options, we are frustrated, depressed, anxious and just need a shoulder to lean on. We had mixed feelings when we were referred to Kaiser Fertility Clinic - Point West because of the last reviews.
However, words fail me to express my deep gratitude for the care that was provided to us by by this center during our very first IUI trial for a baby this year! In particular, I want to thank NP Heins for her unwavering patience and support when I was in her care. She went far and beyond to explain our options and to respond to our endless questions both in the clinic and over email. Sometimes these where late in the day, sometimes several emails in a row.
NP Heins and her staff always followed up promptly with us for any appointments and took time to listen to us when we needed guidance, clarification, reassurances or just hear our shared thoughts as we considered different options. Thank you soo much!! Excited and thankful. Would highly recommend!!
I was hesitant to go with this clinic based off the reviews, but our experience was amazing! We started the process with paperwork in Aug 2021 and had our consultation with Dr. Babcock a few weeks later. She was very kind and very informative about the process. She concluded that with my husbands 0% motility our only option would be IVF with ICSI. She first wanted my husband to be checked out by a urologist to be sure it wasn’t something they could fix first. Unfortunately it wasn’t fixable and we went forward with IVF.
Our doctor did change to Dr. Hatasaka, but seemed to be just as knowledgeable (if not more) and kind as well. I never felt rushed with any consultations and they always made sure I didn’t have any further questions. They were very upfront about the costs and we had a very good idea of what we needed to come up with. We ended up paying approximately 22k for everything including medications.
I was very impressed with the communication from the nurses, assistants and Doctors. They don’t answer the phone all the time, but if you leave a message they are very good at responding in a timely manner. Also it was very convenient to message them with my many questions. All the staff there are SUPER nice and caring. The front ladies are super sweet and really care as well.
I started the medications and injections in October 2021. Dr Hatasaka did most of my appointments and monitoring, but for my egg retrieval I had Dr Deangelis. At first I was upset because I wasn’t sure about having a different doctor, but it turned out that he was my favorite! He is very thorough and very kind. He ended up retrieving 24 eggs and I was only expecting 12! He was very informative about aftercare and my recovery was an absolute breeze.
December 2021 Dr Deangelis ended up doing my embryo transfer. I have a retroverted retroflexed uterus which makes it tricky for transfers but he did it in less than 10 minutes. My first transfer was a success and I am now 5 weeks pregnant.
I couldn’t be happier I went with this Kaiser clinic and will be returning for future transfers! I would recommend this place to anyone.
Overview: No customer service; rude office staff (in general); repeat miscommunication. Ultimately, we're leaving Kaiser and paid more for new insurance. My #1 reason for leaving this clinic is the office staff - I got to a point where I DREADED calling to make an appointment.
Jan/Feb2020: We were at the testing phase (all $800 worth of testing complete, with 50% insurance coverage). And just this has been difficult to navigate the system. We're not given comprehensive or clear information in phone calls or emails. We have not seen a physician yet, I've only interacted with nurses and medical assistants for information. We were given wrong information about calling after testing was complete - overall, it is incredibly difficult to become a new patient, get a basic evaluation/consult, you need to call repeatedly because the MA's may not schedule an appointment for you. I was told "maybe the Dr didn't see anything wrong with your tests" as to why I was ignored - speculation and unprofessional.
July2020 Update: Changed from 2 to 1 stars. It took 9 months to get a consultation. I call numerous times and each time we receive different information about the process.
Aug2020-Aug2021: A year to do 5 IUI cycles, with COVID protocols. For some of it, I needed and chose a break. The stress the MA's put on you that they can "cancel your appointment" with a positive covid test, while understandable and expected, was always said with a negative tone rather than being supportive and helpful. I liked the NP I saw. But the vast majority of interaction for testing and treatment is with the office staff. I'd go in for IUI or test, I'd be nervous it's a tough thing to go through, and the nurse taking me to my room never once looks at me. Poor manners, unsettling. I was repeatedly given misinformation about appointments. My spouse was never allowed in (COVID protocol), but one nurse laughed that he was waiting in the car for me as a way to join. They said we can video chat, but they never helped and the internet would not support video chat, and for us that office was a cell phone drop zone. Overall, I never felt supported!!
I've seen similar testing to treatment (being told a wait is long is different than being ignored and miscommunicated to) reviews here: I actually showed up in person multiple times to get information. It was worth it.
UPDATE 5/4/21: I just got done with my first visit and my doctor was wonderful! They apologized for the cancellation and was able to reschedule me for the same day. I received so much information regarding my condition and options to parenthood! I will keep my old post here so ppl can understand why my 1 star went to 5. I will continue to post throughout this process.
April 2021: I have been waiting for months for my appointment. I went on my KP account and it said no appointments. I called Kaiser and they said the appointment was cancelled by myself and I said no way I would not do that I have been waiting for months. They gave me the number to contact them and no one is picking up after waiting several mins. A kaiser staff even tried a back office number and no one is picking up. I am ready to drive there and see what the heck is going on. I will update after I get a hold of someone.
