UPDATE #2: Today is April 10, 2025, and I finally received a check from Kindbody. Interestingly, the check was issued on April 7—the exact same day I filed a dispute with my credit card company. Worth noting for anyone who may be experiencing similar delays.
UPDATE #1: I previously posted about Kindbody withholding my $4,900 refund since December 2. On March 12, I spoke with Robert, who was kind, apologetic, and assured me the refund check would be mailed and I should get it within 10-14 days.
Unfortunately, it’s now April 3 (3 weeks later)— I have not received the check, and there has been no further communication despite my follow-up attempts, two phone calls to Robert.
This ongoing lack of transparency and delay is incredibly frustrating and disappointing. I will continue to share updates here until this issue is resolved.
INITIAL POST: I had an initial appointment at Kindbody in Los Altos, CA, and the staff there were great. I paid $4,900 to start the egg-freezing process but later decided not to move forward. After the recent presidential election, I became uneasy about potential future legal changes around fertility and requested a refund on December 2, 2024.
It is now March 10, 2025, and I still have not received my refund. Despite calling or emailing every two weeks, I keep getting the runaround. This has made me question how they handle something as delicate as egg storage if they are this irresponsible with money.
What’s even more concerning is that multiple Kindbody staff members have admitted that refund delays are a common issue for the company. If they do this with payments, I can’t imagine the level of care (or lack thereof) they provide for stored eggs.
I will never go back or recommend Kindbody to anyone I know. If you’re considering them for fertility services, think twice before trusting them with your money—or your future.
I had a great experience in Kindbody Los Altos. The environment of the clinic is welcoming and cozy, less like a hospital more like a vacation resort. Everyone is kind and responsive whenever I reached out to the team. And most importantly, I appreciate Dr. Westphal and her team’s supreme techniques that helped my family to grow. I highly recommend Dr. Westphal and her team if you are also considering expanding your family via IVF.
UPDATED REVIEW:
Upon posting this review about my experience and medical findings, I had the pleasure of Dr. W messaging me and then proceeding to call to debate me for 30 minutes as to why she felt that testing for endo does not have enough evidence to support it. It makes sense, when I was a patient and asked Dr. W to test me on ERA/EMMA, she said no because there was not enough evidence.
Therefore, I highly caution anyone considering this clinic. They will not test you on anything in the IVF medical world (IE- ERA/EMMA, Endometriosis) or anything else where they do not think has enough evidence to support the testing.
I do find it hard to believe that a clinic would not explore all avenues and rule out any concerns by doing such tests. Testing does not provide 100% accurate results, but it does 1. eliminate the possibility, 2. If it does come back positive, then it opens the door for more things to consider and 3. give the peace of mind of the patient knowing that their doctor/clinic explored all possibilities to ensure a successful journey to the patient who is already going through so much.
This review is long overdue. I was a patient with Kindbody Los Altos for ~2 years. They have an extremely high turnover rate. It's obvious the company itself is more focused on opening more facilities than they are about taking care of their employees.
Kindbody has created an atheistically pleasing facility to make it modern, airy, and bright. Which they mainly focus on the exterior of their company and lack the interior.
Communication - I absolutely disliked their communication. You are not able to speak to someone at the office. You have to call into their customer care center who will then reach out the office on behalf of you.
When I first joined Kindbody, the nurses and coordinators would take FOREVER to respond. Even when you needed a medication by a certain time, they like to keep you anxiously waiting for further instructions.
Care - I was under the care of Dr. W and Dr. J (no longer with Kindbody). They were nice when you spoke to them. But when you are spending so much time, effort, and money, you'd expect better level of treatment during your journey and wanting to find the cause of your infertility journey.
Example:
After 3 FAILED TRANSFERS, Dr. W tells me she needed to consult with other Doctors within Kindbody because she is stumped on the fact that I can't get pregnant.
You are a doctor and you can't figure out why I can't get pregnant? She completely failed to explore all options and diagnosis until wanting to try for a 4th transfer and put me on Lupron to suppress what she now suspects as endometriosis. WHY DOES IT TAKE YOU 3 FAILED TRANSFERS TO SUSPECT ENDO?
As my OB during the time, why did it not cross her mind that I may have endometriosis? If your speciality is endometriosis, how do you not rule it out?
Let's fast forward from 2023 to end of 2024. I am working with my acupuncturist for over 2 years, and working with a functional nutritionist. They both ask me to get ReceptivaDX tested for inflammation and possible endometriosis.
GUESS WHAT, IT CAME BACK POSITIVE FOR ENDO!
No one at Kindbody thought to explore the idea that I may have endo. They really dropped the ball on my care. Wasted my time, money, and effort with them.
By the way, I encourage anyone even if you proceed at Kindbody, to be an advocate for yourself. If you are diagnosed with "Unexplained Infertility" I push to get tested for endometriosis. New studies have come out that 50% of unexplained infertility is due to endometriosis.
STAY AWAY!!!!! Absolutely HORRIBLE experience, horrible billing team. I want to give zero if I can.
They overcharged me and it has been months with still no resolution. Because of this my FSA card is suspended due to unverified spend, every time contacted them, they will say they’re looking into this but with more that 20 times back and forth no resolution still. I’m not able to get my refund and unable to use my remaining funds in my FSA account. Horrible horrible business to deal with. DO NOT EVER WORK them!!!!! Dishonest business, they will scam and stress you out however they can!😡😡😡😡
Our family came to Kindbody not knowing what to expect. We wanted to find a place that was inclusive and accepting. The team welcomed us with open arms and rooted for us the whole way!
Care team:
Britney and Leslie are the first faces we see when we walk through the door. So much warmth and joy. They make sure we are always scheduled and know what’s going on.
Lori is so kind, easy to talk to even if she’s sticking needles into arms at the same time for blood draws.
The nursing team is so informative and friendly, especially Cassie! She is always sure to say hi and catch up a bit while she takes great care of us in the patient room.
Thanks to the embryologist for your skills.
Lastly, Dr. Westfall! She checked on us throughout the process, she gave our baby cuddles - it’s almost like they had a hidden connection.
We are so glad we came to the Los Altos facility. We couldn’t have imagined our path another way. We feel blessed and knew we weren’t alone. Thank you all for your care, support, and. KINDness. We love you!
