Where do I begin? I don’t usually leave reviews regardless of my experience; however, for the sake of other women, I feel compelled to share my experience and consider further actions.
This review is for Dr. Vicken Sahakian and his team, who handled my care—or rather, what I can only describe as a lack of care.
I am a 38-year-old woman with no medical history or gynecological problems, and I have a strong ovarian reserve for my age. I was considering IVF solely for genetic testing due to my age and for family balancing, with no known infertility issues.
I want to share my terrible experience with this clinic, particularly concerning the negligence of the doctor.
Without conducting any baseline hormone checks or in-cycle hormone monitoring, he placed me on a very high stimulation protocol, resulting in degenerated and overcooked eggs. Out of 15 eggs retrieved, most were discarded due to being overcooked, and only one showed delayed fertilization (due to severe egg damage), which ultimately resulted in a poorly graded day 7 embryo. At this point, I doubt that the embryo was even suitable for genetic testing due to its limited cell count. They sent that poorly graded embryo for genetic testing, knowing full well it would not lead to a viable pregnancy, which, of course, came back genetically abnormal. This seems to have been done to avoid issuing a refund for PGT-A testing. This doctor, in particular, does not adhere to ethical practices.
After consulting with other reproductive endocrinologists about this disastrous outcome, it became clear that the dosage of stimulation medication was excessively high for my situation, causing damage to all of my eggs. Had there been adequate hormone monitoring, the medication dosages could have been adjusted to prevent this outcome.
When I kindly asked the manager, Stephanie G, to consider a refund due to the doctor’s negligence in not ordering any blood work, she replied that there was nothing that could be done. She suggested that if I wanted to transfer my genetically abnormal embryo (with a triple XXX chromosome), I could reach out to them for that transfer. I was left speechless.
To add to this, the price I paid included hormone monitoring, which was never performed.
Please, do not go to this fertility clinic. You will likely face heartache and distress that could lead to severe PTSD. There are excellent IVF clinics and doctors who genuinely care about their patients and their outcomes. My care was grossly neglected here.
I hope this review helps many women choose the right provider for their fertility needs.
AVOID, AVOID, AVOID. Horrible, money hungry clinic that makes everything difficult. Dr. Vicken Sahakian just doesn't care about his patients. The staff is incompetent. They advertise everywhere to get new patients, and have a very bad reputation around LA. It's all marketing and no knowledge. They are not connected to the clinic in San Francisco. They do now have skilled staff, and the only thing they want is money. I didn't know how bad they were until I started looking around and I found another clinic in town that is wonderful, they do different treatment plans, help with insurance, their people are much happier to be around and way more competent.
We decided to see Dr Sahakian after TTC for 2 years. We started at a different clinic and were very disappointed with the lack of support and care we received. Dr Sahakian guided us through the treatment process and was very helpful and informative. We had a successful egg retrieval and FET with him. I had a truly wonderful experience working with our coordinator Sara and Dr. Sahakian. Their vigilance, kindness, and care made the entire process seamless and enjoyable. Sara, in particular, was incredibly attentive and thoughtful—I often tell my husband that she’s an absolute angel! I couldn’t have asked for a better experience and highly recommend them.
My husband and I decided to try PCFLA after almost 2 years of trying to have a baby. After 2 cycles of IUI that unfortunately didn't work, we felt ready to try IVF. Dr. Sahakian followed me during the entire process that leads to the egg retrieval, transfer and first OB ultrasounds. We are so happy it worked out at the first attempt! Sara has been our coordinator and she is the best, I felt very comfortable sharing my thoughts, fears and stress; she is very professional and ALWAYS available. It is essential to feel supported during such an intense and delicate journeys and Sara was able to made me feel that way. I recommend this team to everyone is looking to have a baby and is experiences difficulties. Forever grateful!
I had the most amazing experience with Dr. Ingrid Rodi and her coordinator Catalina as well as the rest of the entire staff. I had already visited another clinic and didn't have the best experience, it actually deterred me for a year and a half until I tried another clinic. Im so happy I found this clinic because everything was so amazing, I obviously had already prepared myself for the journey of IVF after trying to conceive for 3 years. I had read about IVF and seen videos of other women going through my same struggle so mentally I was prepared although a bit scared from all the videos I've watched.
When I met with Dr. Rodi she was so warm and welcoming that I instantly felt I was in good hands, she did tell me from the consult that it would possibly take up to 3 rounds of IVF. Which I thought it was great she informed me from the beginning so I would be more patient with the treatment. We did our labs and started the retrieval of my eggs, in preparation for the retrieval Catalina was great in showing me how to use all the medication accurately and also provided a great calendar. They were also available at anytime to ask any questions during the whole IVF process. I can say that my experience was a 10 out of 10 and we are currently expecting our baby girl in August in just the first round of IVF. I was sad when I graduated from the clinic to my OBGYN as they felt like family and they were all so happy for us and our new little one. I will definitely go back as we have another embryo ready for us.
I also prepared for my IVF treatment by reading the book it starts with and egg by Rebecca Fett. The book really taught me things that I need to be eating more frequently as well as taking the right vitamins for the best health of my eggs.
You will be in good hands if you choose this clinic!!
