How are fertility clinic's success rates/clinical results determined?

Fertility clinic's clinical results are a mixture of:
‍
1) Success rates - the most unbiased way to measure clinical results and the effectiveness of a fertility clinic - the rate of successful IVF (baby-making) cycles done by a fertility clinic*. That being said, there is no public data on success rates for frozen eggs.
‍
2) the volume of IVF and egg-freezing cycles a fertility clinic did, as it shows their experience with the technology.
‍
3) the embryology lab is a criterion of clinical results, but it is hard to quantify. It is important because, after the retrieval, your eggs will be analyzed by an embryologist who will select mature eggs and freeze them. A few things are essential here:
• how advanced is the equipment used in the embryology lab.
• how qualified the embryologist is (years of experience and education).

Why knowing success rates of a fertility clinic important?

A fertility clinic's in vitro fertilization (IVF) success rate is the number of births reported divided by the number of IVF procedures performed. IVF process is very similar to egg freezing. Since egg freezing success rates are not currently publicly available, IVF success rates are representative of egg freezing success rates.

How much do medication and storage cost for egg freezing and IVF? Any extra fees from the fertility clinic?

Fertility stimulation medication costs anything between $2,000 and $8,000. Your fertility doctor will adjust the prescription on the go during stimulation depending on how your body responds to hormonal treatment. Be careful with ordering and injecting fertility medications; the mistakes are costly. We offer a support service for fertility patients where we help you prepare, draw up and administer your daily injections over video call and provide emotional and administrative support.

How to store eggs in a more affordable facility/cryobank rather than your fertility clinic?

Your fertility clinic should be able to release your eggs at no charge just after the procedure or with a small transportation fee but you should inform them before the treatment if you want to do this. It makes sense to transport your egg to a more affordable facility if you plan to store them for 5 years or so. The facility we recommend has excellent security standards and costs $350 a year. Both of our founders’ eggs are stored there. Email us if you want to save money on storage.

How do we define optimal fertility clinics in your area?

Optimal fertility clinic is the sweet spot between high success rates, low prices, and specialization. You can choose what is optimal for you using our transparent and clinical results driven fertility clinic database.

Why do some fertility clinics not have a success rate?

Often, a new, less established fertility clinic do not have the public success rates data yet as it takes some time to publish. You can still ask the fertility clinic about their fertility doctors and embryology department and the number of egg-freezing cycles they accomplished to determine if you feel comfortable with their experience.

Why we don’t recommend traveling outside of the USA to a fertility clinic?

We interviewed women who froze their eggs abroad, and all of them had some minor or major complications in the process: clerical hiccups, loss in translation, or not knowing what clinic to trust abroad. We recommend freezing eggs or doing IVF abroad only if you have a personal relationship with the fertility clinic/doctor and if you plan to transfer your eggs later at the same clinic.
